On February 1, Riyadh Season celebrates the singing star Talal Maddah, who left his mark in Arabic and Saudi music, by presenting “The Earth Voice Night” in honor of the late artist. The musical event will be held at Mohammed Abdo Theater in Boulevard Riyadh City, with the participation of top Arab stars.
Honoring Talal Maddah comes in recognition of his role in developing the Saudi song. Although it has been 22 years since his passing, many generations still remember his voice. He was the first Saudi artist to include the style of musical couplets in his first song, “Wardak ya Zarea Elward.” His songs were very popular at the time of music records and official radio stations in the 1960s-1970s.
The Earth Voice Night is part of the musical events of Riyadh Season. In December, His Excellency Advisor Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of General Entertainment Authority, tweeted an open invitation to all Saudi, Gulf and Arab stars to participate in the night honoring Talal Maddah and said he considered it a personal tribute to him.
Arab singing stars were quick to announce their participation in this night, which will be documented in the memory of Arab music, including Mohammed Abdo, Abadi Al-Johar, Rashid Al-Majed, Rabeh Saqr, Talal Salameh, Khaled Abdel-Rahman, Majid Al-Mohandes, Ahlam, Nawal Al-Kuwaitia, Saber Al-Rubai, Walid Tawfiq, Samira Saeed, Ragheb Alama, Rashid Al-Faris, Angham, Assala Nasri, Abdullah Al-Ruwaished, Aseel Abu Bakr, Jaber Al-Kaser, Waad, Belqis, Carmen Suleiman, Latifa Al-Tunisia, Abed Al-Biladi, Ayed, Dalia Mubarak, Nawal Al Zoghbi, Nabil Shuail and Musaed Al Balushi.
Mohammed Abdo, ‘The Artist of the Arabs,’ is the companion of the late artist Talal Maddah. He accompanied him from the beginning, at the end of the 1950s and the beginning of the 1960s. Mohammed Abdo tweeted his willingness to participate in this night, which he described as a personal honor.
