After Attracting Tens of Thousands of Visitors, Black Hat Concludes Its Activities in Riyadh Season 2022

After days of competition, excitement and suspense, the Black Hat event concluded its activities in Riyadh Season 2022 with impressive success.
Black Hat is the largest cybersecurity event in the region. It brought together the best minds in the field of cybersecurity in Riyadh Front zone, in partnership with the General Entertainment Authority. The event was organized by Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones and Informa Tech. It lasted for 3 days from November 15 to 17.
The Black Hat event attracted more than 30,000 visitors with the participation of more than 120 countries and 200 famous speakers in the cybersecurity sector, who enriched the first edition of the largest technical event with their active participation.
Black Hat witnessed the presence of more than 290 leading cybersecurity companies, including global technology giants such as Cisco, IBM, Spire, Infoblox and others, in addition to more than 40 emerging companies in the same field.
Black Hat presented huge prizes to the contestants and attendees, totaling more than SAR3 million, in addition to 3 cars.
More than 200 seminars and dialogue sessions were held at the event, which made Black Hat a huge field of knowledge for everything related to cybersecurity. These sessions included 136 workshops, 48 discussion presentations, and 46 dialogue sessions at the Executive Summit.
Participants learned about cybersecurity and its implications from a group of world-renowned speakers from leading companies, including the heads of the cybersecurity sector from Equifax, Boom Supersonic, Lufthansa, as well as Jamil Farshchi, Chris Roberts, and Naby Diaw, respectively.
Speakers also included Dr. Alyssa Abdullah (Dr. Jay), Executive Vice President of Security, Mastercard, Ira Winkler, Chief Security Architects, Wal-Mart, and Timothy Brown, Vice President and Head of Global Information Security, Solar Winds and others.
Also hosted was David Colombo, CEO of Colombo Technology, a teenage tech genius, and a cybersecurity expert who is world-famous for his expertise in hacking Tesla cars.
The event was a platform for demonstrations and product launches of the latest cutting-edge security solutions from all areas of the sector, including software, services and training.
The Black Hat event showcased many different topics to meet the needs of a diverse audience, including 23 specialized cybersecurity training courses delivered by 50 Black Hat certified trainers in a hands-on environment with training partners, and an Executive Summit dedicated to elite heads of the cybersecurity sector in the region, which discussed the latest developments in the field and allowed the exchange of inspiring experiences with the best experts in the world.
The event also included the Arsenal space, which is dedicated to developers, where the latest tools and products related to programming and coding by developers were presented, along with practical experience. Technical workshops witnessed the presentation of studies and the latest technologies in the field of cybersecurity, where a group of speakers addressed the most important topics related to cybersecurity.
The event also witnessed the holding of the Capture the Flag competition, a hacking tournament in which more than 1,000 participants took part to enhance their skills in ethical hacking at different difficulty levels to obtain prizes worth SAR700,000. The DiceGang team won the first place with a prize of SAR300,000, while the team (7 * 7) won second place with a prize of SAR200,000 riyals, and the Five Boys Cry team came in third place to deserve a prize of SAR100,000. The team C4T But S40 won fourth place, with a prize of SAR60,000, and the Cookie Storm team won fifth place, with a prize of SAR40,000.
Other competitions included the Bug Bounty Platform Cup, with financial prizes of SAR300,000, distributed among the five winners: Anas Ruby in first place with a prize of SAR70,000, Abdul Rahman Makki in second place with a prize of SAR40,000, and Abdul Rahman Al-Batel in third place with a prize of SAR20,000. Rawi Al-Juraifani won SAR15,000 for the most critical report, and Turki Al-Harthy won SAR10,000 for the most high-quality report.
It also included a competition for startups, where the best proposals were presented to seasoned judges, investors, technology experts and government stakeholders, and the prize of SAR90,000 was won by Cyber Talents.
The event also hosted a merchandise design competition for talented and distinguished digital artists, who were able to create artwork exclusively for Black Hat MEA Cyber Heroes.
The Black Hat event was held after the success of the At Hack event that was held last year and was well received by many interested in the cybersecurity sector.
Riyadh Season 2022 offers visitors a range of entertainment options in 15 zones, each of which is characterized by a variety of activities and events in stores, cafes, restaurants, games, theaters, and a number of new global experiences.
