The star of the Saudi national team and Al-Hilal club, Captain Yousuf Al-Thunayan, revealed during the conference held today at Riyadh Season Media Center, that the play “The Philosopher,” which starts showing tomorrow, Thursday, in Studio 1 in Boulevard Riyadh City, allows visitors to experience football glories and continental championships, stressing that the play came in implementation of the idea of His Excellency Advisor Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of General Entertainment Authority, who launched this initiative last summer.
Al-Thunayan noted that the play narrates the details of his sports career from the early beginnings in his neighborhood before he became a player in Al-Hilal Club and the Saudi national team. He indicated that showing of play at the beginning of the World Cup increases its importance, revealing that the aim is to delight Riyadh Season visitors and offer them the best entertainment. He wished the Saudi national team success in its matches in the World Cup against Argentina, Mexico and Poland.
Al-Thunayan thanked the General Entertainment Authority for hosting the play, which will allow the audience to see him through a drama show on stage, after spending decades entertaining his fans on football fields.
For his part, the star Ahmed Yaqoub, who plays the role of the philosopher in the play, said that the artistic personification of Al-Thunayan comes for important dramatic purposes, pointing out that these aspects are taken into account in building the character that will take visitors back in time. He noted that the play took about 75 days to prepare, which shows the difficulty of the preparations because it is associated with the great history of the footballer Yousuf Al-Thunayan and his long career, which is part of the history of Saudi sports.
“The Philosopher” is one of the most prominent plays of Riyadh Season in its third edition. It will be shown from 17 to 30 November. The play talks about the glories achieved by ‘the philosopher’ with the Saudi national team and Al Hilal Club through inspiring scenes and captivating moments, which formed historical memories in the hearts of Saudis.
The dramatic presentation of the play includes winning scenes in the AFC Asian Cup in 1988/1996, where the stage floor turns into a stadium that embraces Al-Thunayan’s achievements with visual techniques, revealing what Al-Thunayan accomplished during his career in which he won the love of athletes.
