The Riyadh Season Premier Padel P1 continued to deliver top-level action today as part of Riyadh Season, taking place on the Padel Rush courts at Boulevard City. The tournament concluded the Round of 16 matches for both men and women in a thrilling day of competition that once again highlighted Saudi Arabia’s growing status as a global destination for padel and its ability to attract the sport’s biggest international stars.
In the men’s draw, world No. 1 duo Arturo Coello (Spain) and Agustín Tapia (Argentina) – defending champions of last year’s edition – continued their title defense with a hard-fought 7–6, 7–6 victory in a tightly contested match decided by fine margins in two tie-break sets, underlining the intensity of competition at this advanced stage.
The Spanish-Argentine pairing of Eduardo Alonso and Juan Tello secured their place in the next round after a three-set battle (6–2, 4–6, 7–5), a match marked by significant momentum shifts before being settled in the decider.
Meanwhile, Argentina’s Leandro Román Augsburger and Spain’s Juan Lebrón delivered a convincing 6–1, 7–6 win, while Spain’s Javier Martínez and Argentina’s Ramiro Valenzuela advanced with a 6–4, 6–3 victory.
In other matches, Spain’s Miguel Yanguas and Argentina’s Franco Stupaczuk booked their quarterfinal spot with a 7–5, 6–2 win. Spanish duo Francisco Navarro and Francisco Guerrero claimed an important 6–4, 7–6 victory, while Spain’s Javier Garrido and Brazil’s Lucas Bergamini progressed with a clear 6–3, 6–2 result. The Argentine-Spanish partnership of Federico Chingotto and Alejandro Galán also advanced after securing a 6–3, 6–2 win.
In the women’s competition, the event witnessed strong performances from world champions and top seeds. Spanish pair Alejandra Alonso and Andrea Ustero advanced following a 6–0, 7–6 victory, dominating the opening set before facing increased resistance in the second.
Defending champion Paula Josemaría Martín (Spain), alongside compatriot Beatriz González Fernández, continued their impressive run with a 6–3, 6–2 win, reinforcing their strong presence in the title race. Marta Ortega and María Calvo secured a 6–0, 6–4 victory, while Victoria Iglesias and Aranza Osoro needed three sets (7–6, 1–6, 6–3) to claim one of the day’s most dramatic wins.
Alejandra Salazar and Alonso De Villa progressed comfortably with a 6–2, 6–1 victory, while standout duo Gemma Triay and Delfina Brea advanced 6–3, 6–3. Spain’s Claudia Fernández and Portugal’s Sofia Araújo secured a 7–5, 6–3 win, and Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen completed the list of quarterfinalists with a 6–2, 6–2 result.
