The first phase of the WBC Boxing Grand Prix concluded this evening (Sunday) after four consecutive days of thrilling competition at Boulevard City in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The event saw a remarkable turnout of fans and widespread media coverage, with 128 boxers from over 40 countries taking part.
The opening phase featured 64 bouts on the Super Globe stage, where fighters competed across the event’s four official weight classes: featherweight, super lightweight, middleweight, and heavyweight. The matches were held in a highly professional environment following a single-elimination format approved by the World Boxing Council (WBC).
64 boxers successfully secured their spots in the next round of the tournament, which will also be hosted in Riyadh from June 20 to 22, featuring 32 bouts to determine the contenders advancing to the later stages.
Organized by the World Boxing Council (WBC) in partnership with Riyadh Season, the Grand Prix is part of an ambitious initiative aimed at discovering the next generation of global boxing stars, while elevating the quality of competition under the banner of one of the sport’s most prestigious international governing bodies.
The success of this first phase reflects Saudi Arabia’s immense capabilities in hosting major global events and highlights the growing international presence of boxing in the Kingdom, which is fast becoming a leading destination for major championships and a platform for emerging talent to shine.
The tournament will continue with further stages in August and October, leading up to the grand finale on December 20, 2025, when Riyadh will crown the WBC Grand Prix champions in four final title fights—one for each weight division.
