With a blend of musical luxury and classical antiquity, the audience of “Rwaea Almugi” night in the capital Riyadh relived memories of giants of Arab art. The attendees enjoyed a vast legacy of music and the singing of seven stars in a historic concert that Arab art lovers will never forget. The concert was characterized by professionalism and precision in performance, embodied by the large number and diversity of musicians, as well as the participating artists whose voices were perfectly suited for the songs they performed.
As part of Riyadh Calendar events, Abu Bakr Salem Theater in the Boulevard Riyadh City was designed to have a classic style reminiscent of the 1960s and 1970s era, allowing the audience to experience a harmonious blend of auditory and visual tastes in the concert attended by His Excellency Advisor Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, His Excellency Hamed bin Mohammed Fayez, Deputy Minister of Culture, Khaled Al-Bakr, CEO of the Quality of Life Program, and a number of stars from the arts and media.
With great splendor, musician Walid Fayed, who led 130 musicians, showcased the creative productions of the legendary composer, Mohammed Almugi, which added a genius range of colors to Arabic music. Almugi composed melodies for top singers, including Abdul Halim Hafez, who sang a number of Almugi’s compositions, such as the magnificent “Jabbar,” with which the star Saber Al- Rebai started the exceptional night. Other notable songs performed included “Safini Marra,” “Kamel El Awsaf,” “Qare’at Al-Fengan,” and several other distinguished musical works.
Almugi, who left his village and headed to Cairo to sow eternal melodies in people’s hearts, returned with his most prominent works at the Riyadh concert where the audience reminisced about the icons of Arab singing, such as the legendary Umm Kulthum through her song “Is’al Rouhak,” the poet Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal with his poem “Ya Malikan Qalbi,” Talal Maddah with the song “Li Talab” written by Prince Badr bin Abdulmohsen, and Faiza Ahmed with the magnificent “Ana Qalbi Lek Mayl.” The concert also included a collection of works that were immortalized in memory, with compositions by the great Arab musician Mohammed Almugi and lyrics written by prominent poets and sung by famous stars.
The music scene was completed in the evening, which is one of the most important Arab events in recent times, with the late artist’s family receiving a commemorative shield from the CEO of the General Entertainment Authority, Engineer Faisal Bafarat. The musician Yehia Almugi, son of the late artist, also performed alongside the world-renowned musician Ramzi Yassa, presenting a musical piece that delighted the audience, who filled the theater with applause and interaction.
The “Rwaea Almugi” night was distinguished by the revival of a number of songs that represent a part of the history of Arab art, as they touched the audience’s taste in moments of joy that spread throughout the concert and extended to the rest of the world through 10 satellite channels, three radio stations, and two digital platforms.
The event was preceded by a series of preparations and rehearsals led by Maestro Walid Fayed. There were more than 30 rehearsals to accommodate the difficult melodies filled with musical details that illustrate the richness and depth of authentic Eastern music. The participating artists were carefully selected based on their unique vocal abilities. The concert was organized by the General Entertainment Authority in collaboration with the Music Commission and the Quality-of-Life Program.
