As part of the activities of Riyadh Season 2022, the premiere of the play “Al Sahm Al Multaheb” (The Flaming Arrow)” kicked off on Friday, December 16, in Studio 1 in Boulevard Riyadh City. The play is the biography of the Saudi football legend Captain Majed Abdullah and his success story.
Captain Majed Abdullah thanked His Excellency Advisor Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of General Entertainment Authority, for producing the play, saying that it represents a testimony that he is proud of. He added: “I am happy with the love of people and the sports and non-sports audience. I was pleased with the great turnout for the play, and thank you to those who attended and wanted to learn about my sports history.”
The play talks about the challenges that Majed Abdullah overcame in his football career from the beginning until retirement. He is an icon of Saudi, Khaleeji and Arab football with his distinguished performance on football fields and the unforgettable goals he scored.
The play deals with the journey of the “flaming arrow”, who was born in Jeddah in 1959, with the football world for 40 years with his club Al-Nasr and the Saudi national team. During his career, Abdullah made many achievements, including being the first captain of the Saudi national team in the World Cup, winning the AFC Asian Cup more than once with the national team, reaching the World Cup finals and advancing to round 16 for the first time in 1994.
The play is accompanied by an exhibition that contains pictures of Majed Abdullah, the cups and medals he obtained, his sports T-shirt bearing the number 9, a documentary film about the history and life of the player, a screen bearing the championships he achieved with his team, Al-Nasr, screens for his most prominent matches and goals, newspaper and magazine articles that were written about him, the T-shirts he wore with Al-Nassr and the national team, and the shoes he wore in matches.

Riyadh Season 2022, which started on October 21, includes 15 entertainment zones and offers visitors the experience of cable car rides, cloud-embracing lounges, sporting events, Saudi and Arab plays, concerts and local and international exhibitions.
