The Saudi capital is preparing to host an extraordinary boxing night titled “Fatal Fury”, under the umbrella of Riyadh Season. The main event is a historic showdown for the undisputed super middleweight championship of the world, set to take place on May 3 at anb Arena.
The headline bout will see Mexican superstar Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, one of the most decorated fighters of his generation, defend his titles against the undefeated Cuban challenger William Scull in a high-stakes fight that has captured global attention.
Canelo, who has claimed world titles in four different weight divisions, enters the ring looking to cement his legacy, while Scull aims to deliver a major upset and seize the undisputed crown, along with Canelo’s collection of belts.
The evening will also feature a stacked undercard. Rising Mexican talent Jaime Munguía will face Bruno Surace of France in a super welterweight bout expected to deliver excitement and intensity.
In the heavyweight division, Martin Bakole of Congo will clash with Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba, a fight anticipated to be a slugfest between two knockout artists with explosive power.
Veteran Swedish boxer Badou Jack will take on Canadian Ryan Rozicki in the cruiserweight division, a compelling battle between experience and ambition. Meanwhile, Mexican fighters Marco Verde and Michel Polina will square off in a fast-paced super welterweight contest.
Another anticipated bout features Cuban Bryan León facing Mexico’s Aaron Guerrero in the lightweight division — a matchup that could spotlight a rising star in the sport.
“Fatal Fury” is part of a broader initiative to position Saudi Arabia as a premier destination for international boxing events, with strong backing from Riyadh Season.
Notably, this will be the first time Canelo Álvarez defends all four of his major titles — WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO — outside the United States and Mexico, underscoring Riyadh Season’s growing influence as a global hub for world-class boxing.
